I have a B2D job run with a D2T job afterwards. The D2T job is set to Append and terminate if no appendable. I checked the tape and the appendable period is set to Infinte - allow append. The database it is backing up on disk is 300gig. The tape is saying it has 545 gigs left so an append would be possible both with the amount of space left and the tape setting on infinite append.

I recently integrated Enterprise Vault with one of our Data Domain deduplication appliances - which involves having EV create collections and migrating them off to the Data Domain. That works fine. BUT - now I am realizing that the EV backup agent does not reach out to the secondary storage location of the vault store to back that up.
We have a data domain at our DR site, and one at our main site. They have the capability of replicating to each other and also scheduling snapshots as a way of backing up a point in time, however restoration is all or nothing.
Right now, I've configured Backup Exec 2012 to backup the CIFS share of one data domain to another as a means of backup and redundancy. Doing CIFS backups are pretty slow, but offer the ability to pick what I want to restore if needed.
I'm looking for some comments or suggestions on backing up this secondary location...

The issue is i have run one backup job its ran and backedup almost 45% data but after that the backup job has been cancelled automatically.The following error has been encountered.

This seems like a pretty straightforward thing to do but I cant get it to work. All I want to do is copy a vhd from a backup tape. I dont want to restore the live vhd file. Just copy a vhd from tape to another location on the drive which I'll copy to a usb.
I click restore, I select the tape in the drive, the vhd I want to restore, I set redirection to the path where I want the file to get copied and I specify source as our tape drive. When I run the job it will tell me the virtual machine is on and the job fails. I dont want to copy over our live vhd. Why is it telling me that i have to shuttoff the virtual machine when all I want to do is copy a vhd from tape to a different location on the drive? Arcserve makes this process very simple.

Is WorkGroup Edition supported for Agent for Application and Database for Backup Exec 2012.
I went over the SCL and no mention of support for WorkGroup Edition.

Can anybody explain to me the reason why my backup log is being canceled several times.
Looking at my joblog I see the following text:
Job ended: 21 February 2014 at 03:54:13 Completed status: Canceled The job was canceled because the response to a media request alert was Cancel, or because the alert was configured to automatically respond with Cancel, or because the Backup Exec Job Engine service was stopped.
Also further on (crawling through some pages of text) the following text was shown:
Drive and media mount requested: 21/02/2014 03:42:11 Media mount failed. User canceled a Physical Volume Library operation.
I do not understand why it stated, "User canceled...". I didn't canceled anything! I was asleep at that time...
A bit further in the logging:
Starting Post Job Command < C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\idr\Data\TriggerIDR.cmd > V-79-57344-33861 - The media operation was terminated by the user. - Error: Could not start Post Job Command < C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\idr\Data\TriggerIDR.cmd >. Error (2): The system cannot find the file specified.
Again a statement that the user have terminated something...? For extra information: The last statement is also always printed exactly the same in all my succesfull backup loggings. So I used to ignore that error, because at the end, the backup logging was showed as succesfull.
I'm dissapointed about the absense/complete lack or a least very cryptic kind of information about the exact reason, the reason given does not point me in direction to search for.
My backup failed for 3 days now, yesterday I got the same useless glue, so I looked at the amount of data that was backupped (didnt increased significantly).
Can somebody explain me or give me some directions where to look for and what I can do to make the loggings more clear?

Die USB-Festplatte ist nicht am Server, sondern an einem PC im Windows-Netzwerk angeschlossen.
Das Verzeichnis auf der USB-Festplatte, in das gesichert wird, ist in Backup-Exec als Backup-to-Disk-Ordner definiert.
Bei der Sicherung werden die Datensätze nicht überschrieben, sondern es werden immer wieder neue Datensätze erstellt, bis die USB-Festplatte voll ist. Die Sicherung funktioniert soweit. Wenn die Festplatte voll ist, stoppt die Sicherung allerdings mit der Meldung "Medium wird geladen", anstatt alte Datensätze zu überschreiben.
Gewünscht war, die Sicherung täglich laufen zu lassen und den ältesten Datensatz dabei zu überschreiben.
Weiß jemand Rat?

I have 2012 installed on a 08 file server, Ihave added a file ser to the list by the IP address. I have a matching user account on my server for the Linksys nss6000 from my server I can hit the NAS by the IP with no issue. I have the user account for the NAS added to the admin and backup group. Every time I try to access the NAS it will not connect give me a error that the credentials have failed

My full backup is scheduled on weekly basis i.e., every week sunday and incrementals are running every day. My query is will both full and incremental backup run on sunday, if so I want to exclude incremental on sundays. Is it possible to do. Will it affect backup cycle?

Just upgrade to BE2012 with the lastest SP3 and hot fix (from BE2010). Backup Exec Server crashes from time to time, seems toward the end of the backup jobs. This is the error:

Running 2012 on a 2008 server, have agent installed on a Win 7 64 bit pro. Installed agent by the server software by adding a server by the IP address, it installed agent software on the win 7 box. I have a trust between the two, my credentials are good, but when I set up a backup and go to the server where the agent is at, it only shows the IP address of the PC, if I click on the check box it quires the pc and come back with nothing. Even though I check the box it never gets checked.

I need help on Enterprises vault 10 backup is getting fail with Backup Exec 2010 R3,
we are taking weekly full backup for all server, other servers full backups are getting successful but, whenever enterprises vault - full backup is happen, its getting fail as Backup to disk device is offline and because disk folder drive is disconnected from server.
any suggestion to fix this issue.
