Any thoughts on where to take this?

Restore volume as a folder NDMP Netapp

I need a solution

Hi!

I am in a process restoring our old NDMP Netapp backups to a single volume/share on another Netapp storage system.

This works ok except for the fact that it does not restore the volume name as a top folder.

So all data of 30 volumes are in that one volume without the right volume folder separation.

Does anyone know how to restore the original volumename as a top folder?

I was thinking something in the line of %volumename% in the restore path.

Dennis

Hallo Zusammen,

ich habe ein Problem mit Backup Exe 2014 SP2:

Every day our backup fails with the error "The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed." There is no pattern to the folders the it fails on - it's different pretty much every day!

I have tried changing the backup schedule just in case other things may have been conflicting.

I have disabled the Vipre anti virus software in case that was locking folders.

I have checked the event logs, and althogh event ID 34113 is logged (for this error), there are no other events that lead me towards anything in particular - in fact, there are no other errors or even warnings around the time that the backup fails.

The failed job logs show error V-79-57344-65033, whilst the error codes in the main panel of Backup Exec show either E00084AF, E000FE09 or E000FE7C.

DCOM communication error with Linux servers

I need a solution

We are currently running Backup Exec 15 with both Windows and Linux agents.

We are seeing a large number of errors being logged to the Windows Event Log:

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer LINUX_HOST_NAME using any of the configured protocols; requested by PID      f48 (C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\BackupExecManagementService.exe).

Whilst backups are working correctly, Backup Exec is logging the error several times an hour for each server.

We can see that the backup server is attempting to communicate with the agent on port 135 (which is blocked) but connects successfully on port 10000.

Is there a way to stop Backup Exec attempting to communicate with non-Windows agents using the NETBIOS port?

Backup to Disk then Duplicate to USB...

I need a solution

OK - here is my setup: Backup Exec 2012 installed on Windows 2008 R2.  I am doing a full backup to disk and then duplicating that to USB.  Success so far... BE tells me 661 GB have been backed-up in both stages (original backup and then follow-on duplicate).  However, when I look in the USB storage device there are only 17GB in there...

Also, when I attempt a restore, I expect to be prompted to choose between the disk location and the USB location.  This does not happen.  The jobs have been created from scratch, rather than editing an existing job.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hello,

we have a LTO machine with 8 position for LTO tapes, currently we use 5 of them. From some reason I cannot make any backup. As you can see on the screenshot, BackupExec see all Media, but when I try to do Inventory, it says - no idle devices available. LTO machine is up and running. Connected to the server.

And if I try to do the backup right now, it tells me Job destination on local media server does not contain any device..

Do you have please any idea where the problem can be?

Thank you.

installing BUE on a different server (temporarily)

I need a solution

We're doing some disk maintenance on our normal backup server which will take a bit of time. I would like to install Backup Exec 2014 on a different server for maybe a week or two. My question is about licensing. Is this permitted, and if so, is there any special procedure needed for the agents on the other servers on the network? Ideally, I'd like to just install BUE2014 on the new server, recreate the single backup job (it's very simple, so I don't want to hassle with trying to migrate everything from the old to the new - I'll just create it all from scratch).

Is this do-able?

Also, I was thinking of trying Backup Exec 15 on the temporary server. Could I do that? Will the current agents (for 2014) still work?

Bonjour,

Backup job running forever

I need a solution

Our backup jobs start running but then after a while they stop.
The monitor says they are still running but the byte counter stops incrementing and the transfer rate slowly decreases.

All services are running on the servers that are to be backed up.

There are no error messages or alerts.

The current job backed up 2GB in 11 minutes but has now been running for over an hour and it is still showing 2GB.

Anyone got any ideas?

We are running 2010 R2.
This has been running OK for the last year or so but for the last week several jobs have stalled.

Moving Backup Exec from SQL 2008 R2 to local SQLExpress

I need a solution

Hello,

System overview:

BKP01 - Backup Server running WS2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 x64 with Backup Exec 2014 Version 14.1 Rev. 1786 (64-bit)

SQL01 - SQL Server running WS2008 R2 Standard SP1 x64 with MS SQL 2008 R2 (Fully patched)

Current SQL Server instance: SQL01\MSSQLSERVER

I would very much like to move the BEDB to BKP01. Currently SQLExpress is not installed on BKP01.

I also am planning an upgrade BKP01 to BE 15 if that will give me a path to move the DB.

Any advice welcome.
