I have a backup exec 2012 server that is attached via fiber to a 4GB brocade switch. Off the brocade switch I have a Napapp Filer and a Quantum i80 tape library (both connected at 4GB). I registered the netapp as a NDMP backup device. Under the Storage tab I see the Tape library attached to both the netapp and as a stand alone drvice.
Recently my backups started taking at lot longer than normal and the job rate is about half the speed it use to be (5,000 MB/M instead of 10,000 MB/M when one drive is in use). I also see 90% of the bandwidth of the ethernet nic in use when a NDMP backup is running. I'm pretty sure the traffic is going across the nic insead of direct via fiber. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?
I also notice that under the Storage Tab on the Filer it says that the services on the backup server will need to be restarted. I have restarted them a few times before, but this message keeps coming back.
We did need to replace a tape drive recently in the Library, it seems since then, traffic is now coming from he NIC insead of over fiber.
