Hi everyone....I need your help making an argument.. Right now the company I work for has 6 servers with 5 different versions of BE accross the 6 servers.
Symantec Backup 12.5 on a sever with the following roles installed: file sharing and hyper v
Symantec Backup 2010 on a sever with the following roles installed: SQL Server app, terminal server, file server
Symantec Backup 2010 on a sever with the following roles installed: File sharing, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory
Symantec Backup 12 on a sever with the following roles installed: File sharing, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory
Veritas 8.6
Varitas 9.1 on a sever with the following roles installed: Terminal and file sharing (AOFO not purchased)
They are all acting as their own media server. I know that this is the improper way of maintaining backups and that there should be a centeralized media server with agents running on each of the other servers. As far I know I don't think we purchased any specilized agents. Other than this being the improper way of doing things, can some one provide me with the risks that we are taking by not using the correct agents and by not having it centeralized. Can you also provide me what agents we would need to buy and why they are necessary. Thanks.
