Hi all,
when I want duplicate a backup set the job is created and entering quickly in Recovered status (his schedule still Run Now) and nothing append.
No backup, no log, nothing...
In other hand, everything else work.
It is too tricky to debug anything without information.
Somebody can help me ?

For the past 4 weeks, our full backup has been failing with the following message. "e000ff16 - A communications failure has occurred with a Shadow Copy resource.For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-65302"
The selection is using DRSrReplicatedFodlers for our network drives under the Shadow Copy Coponents of the target NAS.
e.g. target is: Favorite Resources -> Windows Systems -> Server.local -> Shadow COpy Componenets -> User Data -> Distributed FIle System Replication -> DFSrReplicatedFolders -> network shared folders
I do have the AOFO selected in the job and the VSS wrtiers were stable when the job started but this morning there are three that are Waiting for Completion. They are:
Dhcp jet writer
DFS replication server writer
WMI writer
Should I turn off AOFO or re-register vss on the target server? The daily incrementials are working fine, it's only for the full jobs.
I need to get the full jobs working again.

I have a Win7 Professional client.
I am looking to install desktop client utilty to access the media server so I can manage jobs etc without having to RDP into the server.
I recently upgraded from BE2010 to BE2012 SP2. My backup server hardware is a Dell R710 server and a TL4000 with an internal LTO4 tape drive.
After upgrading to BE2012 SP2, everything worked fine the first week. The when the second backup cycle started, the backup-to-disk jobs methods ran successfully but the Duplicate stage would not.
I looked under Window's Device Manager and found the "Medium Changer" was not present, so I shutdown the media server, power cycled the TL4000 tape library then restarted the media server after the tape library was back on line. When I checked for the "Medium Changer" in Device Manager, I found it. In BE2012, any duplicate jobs that were queued before the restart, requeued themselves and began to run one after the another.
What I have discovered is that within a 24-hour timeframe, the media server no longer sees the tape library, and needless to say, the duplicate jobs start failing or are "missed." Repeating the restart of the server and tape library, brings the tape library back online but just for a few hours and I am repeating the this process again.
Here' is my question, the Dell TL4000 tape library has one LTO4 tape drive so why is BE2012 throwing an alert that I need the Library Expansion Option, when there is no second or more tape drive/tape library connected to my media server? Since I can successfully see the tape library after doing the restart process I mentioned above, I pretty sure there is not a tape library or tape drive hardware failure. The 6Gbps HBA card is up-to-date with the its driver and the Device Manager reports it is working properly.
Any suggestions on what else I can do to fix this problem?

i haveto restore an old backup (created with backup exec 10 i guess). For this restore i use Backup Exec 2010 R3 on Server 2008 R2. There are no entries for this backup in the catalog. So i loaded all tapes for this backup (20x LTO4 containing one backup) in my 24-Slot loader and inventorized them. After that i created catalogue jobs for each tape, starting with the first one. After 2 hours and about 800gb data the job on tape 1 failed with the error (translated): V-79-57344-33994 - Data read from media is not consistent. All other tapes failed with the same error.
I can browse the data of the first tape and restore some of the items (others have a red cross). All other tapes are not in the catalogue, so i cant browse them.
What i tried:
* cleaning drive
* checking statistic data for all tapes (0 errors)
* Under BE Options > catalogue > disabled request all media in a row (translated)
* enabled debugging
May the first tape be broken? Is there a possibility to check the contents of all other tapes? I'm doing something wrong?

Hi all,
I have an issue with backup Exchange 2010 DB and not sure where the problem is.
I'm using Backup Exec 2010 R3 with SP3 and Full Backup job for Exchange job is running fine (Job Status - Successful) but when I'm checking Database stats the DB is showing that Full backup never run. This is happening only for DB in one DAG (I have 2 DAG) the other DB in other DAG is working fine
Bit more about my setup.
Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP3
2 DAGs spread across 2 datacenters
All DBs are created via same policy and setup to backup from passive copy only, usign Preffered Server settings, use GRT; Full - Database & logs; backup to disk,
Scenario where everything works:
Backup Exec server installed in Datacenter 1
Exchange DB1 in DAG1 spread across 2 mailbox server in Datacenter 1 and anothr copy in Datacenter 2
Full backup runs fine and mark DB1 as backed up in Exchange Management Console
Scenarion where is not working correctly:
Backup Exec server installed in Datacenter 1
Exchange DB2 in DAG2 spread accross 2 mailbox servers in Datacenter 2 and passive copy in Datacenter 1
Full backup finished with success but EMC is not showing as backed up and Soft-Deleted mailboxes are not deleted.
Anyone have suggestions what could be wrong?

The problem we are having is that on site A we have backup exec 2012 and on site B we have same version(backup exec 2012) and having 2Mb connection WAN, but we want to backup the site A to site B, there's problem is if we run full backup directly from site A to site B it's impossible(it must be take long time) so we change the scenario, first we do the full backup site A to local disk(SAN) at site A and we bring the disk to site B hopefully we can attach the disk to backup exec at side B as disk storage and we just run the incremental backup servers at site A to side B, Sounds simple enough but we are having issues with it:
1.whether it is possible?
2.how to configure the disk from site A to backup exec site B
or is there any other solusion? Can someone please help me

To the gurus that are out there, I have an issue that has completely stopped my backup servers from working at all. I verified the logon credentials due to the fact that i had just completed some password changes. I now get the following error "An internal error (-536837662) occured in object 12" after i try and start the Backup Exec Server service. This has crippled me has to this is my only means of backups. I ran a debug and the first thing that i noticed was that it said my bedb was read-only. Here is a snapshot of the entry.

We recently acquired a new company that has a backup server running Backup Exec 2010 in a separate Active Directory domain. As we have been upgrading and replacing their legacy servers we have been joining the new servers to our Active Directory domain. We also recently built a new 2010 Exchange server in their office and we found that the existing backup server is not x64 and cannot backup Exchange until it is migrated to a new x64 server. We would like to migrate the existing Backup Exec server to a new server in the new Active Directory domain while keeping all of the server settings, selections, policies and jobs. Is this possible?

Hi All,
I've installed the remote agent on one of our Linux machine on the DMZ. In the beginning there were network-related issues that prevented the backups from running. I've ironed them out using the knowledge base articles. The full backups are now running on this machine; however the incremental backups are failing.
The weird thing is that when I do run it on the backup exec server manually, the incremental backup ran successfully.
I've attached the debug logs I've gathered, please could someone help me to figure this out.

I know there are many posts similar to this, but we're currently running Backup Exec 2012 SP2 and Exchange 2010 SP2. So AOFO should definitely be disabled when backing up the information stores? I've came across several suggestions, but I dont see this documented anywhere. Thanks for your help.
Doing some planning here and trying to figure out the process for the following scenario.
we have a backupexec 2012 running right now we backup the Database and the whole install folder for the catalouges etc.
Say in a fire we lose that whole server so we get a new one in and install backupexec how do I get that info back from tape so that I can start restoring other servers?

The size of my incremental backup is the same as my full. i noticed that the backup method was set to modified time. I'm hoping changing it to archive bit will fix this issue.
The Full already ran with it set to modified time. So My question is:
Will i need to re-run the full job first before seeing the change in my incremental backup?
Does BUE 2012 change the archive bit regardless of how the backup method is set?
We downloaded our copy of BackupExec v2012 today & attempted to upgrade our copy of BackupExec v2010 running on Windows 2012 to find out this is still unsupported. Should we be returning the BE v2012 or can you give me a date as to when this will be resolved?

I am trying to create a backup job that will backup my server shares to a NAS drive and keep them backed up for 4 months.
I'm a little confused about the options under the storage section of the job.
I created one Full backup job and one Incremental job. My intention was to run a full backup each month and the incremental run once a week.
What I don't understand is how to configure how long to keep the data for. Do I keep the Full for 4 weeks and the incrementals for 16 weeks? Does that mean I will have no more than 2 full backup sets at any one time? Does that mean that every file I have will be retained for 16 weeks even if it is changed or deleted between each backup job?
For example, will this ensure that if someone creates document_1.0.docx on the first week, changes it on the second week, renames it to document_1.1.docx on the third week and deletes it on the 10th week will I have all revisions of all the files for 16 weeks total?

I am a bit confused with the Stage option. I have a VM environment and I do full backups on Friday and incremental through the week all other days and the backup happens to a Disk Storage. When I add another stage to duplicate the back up to tape I get he following options as listed in the word doc attached when I want to run the job immediately after the full or incremental backup to tape. I can only select either incremental or full. Is there a way I can select both incremental and full backup to duplicated in one stage setup? or should I seperate staged setup for full and one for incremental???
